GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!

So basically applying to colleges have been over for the past three to four months :)
I applied to Parsons New School for Design in Manhattan, NY. :) I applied there for Fine Arts.
I also applied to Pratt Institute and School of Visual Arts, both located in New York as well. && The results have been in since the beginning of April....

I GOT ACCEPTED TO ALL THREE ART COLLEGES!

I have decided to attend Parsons, so I have been working to raise money to pay for my tuition Deposit which is due in two weeks! I am so excited, like I visited the "campus" and attended Accepted Students Day which was quite lovely! I hope the Faculty at Parsons will love me as much as I love the school. I MUST continue to apply for scholarships though which is hard. I have applied to about 10 or so. But I hope there are more out there for me!
And TWO more weeks until my Senior Art Show, which I am producing the flyer for!
XOXO :)

Back to Life

Hola :)
I always look at other blogspots that inspire me so mcuh. They keep up with blogging, because they are real bloggers rather than using Tumblr, like myself. It takes over my life, looking at all the interesting photography and people. I wish I used this more often, which I will try more often. :)

Old Photo Shoot- Unedited

I also did an experimental shoot with my brother and sister, but my teacher said it was somewhat irrelevant to my series topic. So :( I covered them in make-up. haha :)
I was thinking of doing another shoot, of them painted in fabric patterns. :) We shall see though.

As a Senior

Well, For one.
I am a senior in the Visual Arts Department, at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. This is my second year at this school, because I transferred last year.

As a senior I must have a series of 12 to 24 pieces of art, of a theme. Considering the fact that I am in AP Studio Art, I must complete about fifteen. My series topic is:
AFRICAN FABRICS/ FASHION.

It has been a struggle finding inspiration, and continuing with the pieces that I have started. I have found some inspiration here and there from African clothing designers from African Fashion week. And i am trying to get tickets to the show, but  I realized that the show was after I graduated. Anywho, I did contact one of the designers, Arewa Designs, and she is willing to speak with me and possibly give me advice as well. I really wanted to do my series on fashion, but also something with Africa. I love the fabrics. So far I have been doing collage pieces, and paintings, with fabric in them.

These are photos that are semi-completed, or are completed. I have struggled some, but I think it will be strong in the end.

                                                      Medium: Acrylic, Fabric

                                                                Medium: Oil paint, fabric
                                                                       Collages

                                                               Charcoal Drawing

Feedback on my series would be lovely!
What would you invision if saw the words AFRICAN FABRICS/FASHION

She helped me come up with some ideas, and as well took some photos. :)

Ill post the photos soon!
